Los Angeles Department of Water & Power

LADWP turf replacement rebate

$5.00 per square foot of turf converted (raised from $3.00), for 250 to 5,000 sq ft - up to $25,000 for residential customers. Income-qualified customers may access no-cost landscape conversion through LEAP.

LADWP pays Los Angeles homeowners five dollars for every square foot of thirsty turf they convert - among the strongest turf programs in the country, with a $25,000 residential ceiling. The catch is sequencing: approval comes before removal, and the landscape has to qualify. That’s exactly the kind of paperwork choreography we carry as part of every project that touches the yard.

We re-confirm the current tier table against LADWP’s program page before any figure enters your proposal.

Who qualifies

  • LADWP water customers (City of Los Angeles)
  • 250-5,000 sq ft of qualifying turf converted to approved low-water landscape
  • Program rules and pre-approval steps apply before removal

What we handle for you

We design the conversion around LADWP's approval rules, submit before removal starts, and fold the rebate into your landscape scope - at five dollars a square foot this is often the largest single rebate on an LA project, and most homeowners never file it.
